George Schmitt & William Gunther, circa 1922

George Schmitt & Company was founded in 1874 as a stone lithography company and won national recognition at the 1892 Chicago World's Fair. Today, George Schmitt is a fourth generation, privately held business offering flexographic, rotogravure, and rotary letterpress printing, finishing and converting services. In addition to George Schmitt, we operate two pre-press divisions. Acitronics offers rotogravure cylinder engraving, and Image Processing provides a full range of electronic pre-press services.
Each division works as an autonomous business unit and is focused on its particular area of expertise. We’ve earned a reputation in the industry for developing new integrated finishing processes and techniques. Over the years George Schmitt has held 14 different patents for processes and equipment design. Our senior management is actively involved in new product research and development, and most of our senior managers have engineering degrees.
George Schmitt has a significant market presence in aviation, beverage, consumer products, government, pharmaceutical, technology, and tobacco markets. We are a global leader in high-security printing, including RFID tags and specialty ink printing. Our customers include large multinational corporations, government agencies, and smaller, privately-held companies. For more information, please contact us.
